Which one to buy

Choose Petoi Bittle X if

you want a real legged gait, backflips, thirty-five voice commands and a curriculum to learn from.

Choose Doly if

you want a desk pet that navigates by itself, recognises faces on the device and can be rebuilt with a 3D printer.

Bittle X arrives as a kit and takes about an hour to build unless you pay for the assembled package, and it runs about an hour per charge. Petoi says ten and up, and a child under ten will need a grown-up. Doly is the most expensive desk robot here, expects tinkering rather than unboxing, and its development ran late after the crowdfunding campaign.
