Sixteen, if you count the ones that ship today from a maker's own store or a major retailer, and they run from about $140 for a Joy for All Companion Pup to about $499 for a Loona. The table below is that list: price as listed, what the robot is, whether it needs Wi-Fi or a subscription, and the maker's age rating. It leaves out crowdfunded robots that have not shipped and the ones whose makers have closed, which is a longer list than you would think and the subject of its own article. Prices checked on the makers’ own stores.

Three things the table shows at a glance. The no-Wi-Fi robots are the cheap and the soft ones; everything that talks needs a phone. Almost nothing on the list charges a subscription, with the Miko robots the exception through their optional Miko Max plan. And the price ladder has three rungs, about $150, about $300 and about $450, which is how we sort them in How much does a robot pet really cost, with the subscriptions?.

Which well-known robot pets are not on the list, and why?

Vector. Anki's desk robot went through its maker's collapse in 2019 and was revived by Digital Dream Labs with a subscription; availability and support have been uneven since, so we list it as text, not as a buy.

Moxie. The $799 children's companion was switched off in December 2024 when its maker, Embodied, ran out of money; a community effort followed. It is the case study in What happens to a robot pet if the company shuts down?.

Aibo. Sony's robot dog costs about $2,899 plus a cloud plan and sits above the price band this site covers.

Crowdfunded robots not yet shipping. A new mini robot appears on Kickstarter most months. We add a robot to the table when it ships from a store, not when it takes deposits; the ones worth watching are in Which robot pets and mini robots are coming in 2027?.

How do you pick from sixteen?

Three questions in order. Does it need to move around the room, or sit on a desk? Does it need to talk, or is reacting enough? Who is it for: an adult's desk, a child from the age on the box, or an older relative who wants something warm and quiet? Answer those and the table shrinks to two or three rows; put them side by side in our compare tool. The two pairs people ask about most are Loona vs EMO and EMO vs Eilik.

We compared the maker pages and two major retailers for all sixteen: every listed price in the table comes from one of them, and where a maker publishes no age rating or no price outside a crowdfunding page, the cell says so rather than guessing.

Can a robot pet on this list earn its price back?

Several owners say yes, and not only the creators. A desk robot that stars in short videos is the common case; a mobile pet hired out for a children's party is the one from our cartoons. The methods, with real examples, are in Can a robot pet earn money for its owner?.
